The new founded University in Hamburg: Kühne Logistics University: “THE KLU”! – Wissenschaftliche Hochschule für Logistik und Unternehmensführung. Building on the experience acquired by the Kühne School of Logistics and Management at Hamburg University of Technology since 2003, the Kuehne Foundation founded “THE KLU” in January 2010 as a private, independent university. THE KLU is dedicated to teaching and research of logistics as a core element of globally organized management. Our students and professors don’t see logistics in the literal sense of the word, but rather as a leadership function in all sectors of the international economy. No other area of expertise prepares future management leaders for today’s global challenges as well as a broad understanding of logistics. Logistics is genuinely multidisciplinary. It impacts everything that shapes our future: Technology, cutting-edge IT design, microeconomics and macroeconomics, sustainability, and challenging management strategies in complex, intercultural surroundings. THE KLU is located in the heart of Europe’s largest urban development project, the waterside HafenCity in Hamburg. Hamburg, as the world’s ninth-largest seaport, is an important logistics center.
There are many good reasons why you should get to know THE KLU. We invite you to discover how the world of logistics can be the doorway to your successful future career. Explore the world of logistics and leadership through THE KLU! Background Info: The Kuehne Foundation, set up by the Kuehne family in 1976, has as its sole donor Klaus-Michael Kühne. The foundation’s objective is to support training and further education as well as to foster science and research in the fields of logistics and transportation. Furthermore, the foundation supports research in medical science and sponsors humanitarian, charitable and cultural projects. Over the past years, Klaus-Michael Kuehne has allocated considerable funds to the foundation enabling it to continually expand its activities in the fields of logistics and transportation and enter into close partnerships with leading universities and business schools. Apart from supporting the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg, it finances a professorship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), a Center for International Logistics Networks at the Berlin Technical University, a logistics institute at the Tongji University in Shanghai, and the Kuehne Center for Logistics Management at the WHU–Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar near Coblenz on the Rhine.
