Ten years BWB AC20.30 wing-only aircraft project group at HAW Hamburg

The blended wing body group BWB AC 20.30 at HAW Hamburg’s department of automotive and aeronautical engineering has already been working for ten year on interior and exterior solutions of wing-only aircraft.

The first project at the department of automotive and aeronautical engineering started in the year 2000. It focused on new interior concepts and was realised in co-operation with Munich’s Technical University Airbus Hamburg, and DAIMLERCHRYSLER research Berlin. Coached by Prof. Werner Granzeier, also interior application studies and two flying models for applied aviation research have been developed at the department of automotive and aeronautical engineering. All around the world, universities such as Stanford University, TU Stuttgart, Cranfield University und Greenwich University work on these future-oriented themes. Next to the flying model of a Boeing X-48, also the flying prototype AC20.30-5 will provide HAW Hamburg with additional basic expertise.
