Hamburg Airport will invest some 32 million euros into enhanced services and improved comfort for our passengers. From January to December 2009, 12.2 passengers used Hamburg Airport, i. e. 4.7 per cent or 600.000 passengers less than in 2008. Flight movements also suffered a loss with 157,500 starts and landings in 2009, i.e. 8.5 per cent less than in 2008. ”The economic and financial crisis also significantly influenced the aviation industry in 2009. The decline in passenger figures, however, is much less than expected at the beginning of the year. After several months with significant losses, Hamburg Airport turned the trend and enjoyed slight gains in November and December”, says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. ”We thus start into the new year with cautious optimism. Hamburg Airport will invest some 32 million euros into enhanced services and improved comfort for our passengers.”
